Twitter, as many of you may or may not know, is a microblogging service that has become extremely popular in a relatively short period of time. The main purpose of Twitter, involves posting Tweets, or microblog posts with a maximum of 140 characters. These microblog posts, alert your followers what you are doing. Tweets are used to share your experiences (in short form), links that are of interest to you, breaking news, or commentary. Seemingly overnight, Twitter has also become a welcomed addition to the arsenal for social media marketing professionals. Below is a list of the top 3 ways in which Twitter can be used in your social media marketing campaign.

1. Sharing Updates to Your Website or Blog

One of the best methods for “getting the word out” about updates to your website or blog is by sending out a Tweet. Tweeting is an extremely effective conduit for notifying a large group of followers – FAST. In order to keep you under the 140 character maximum; however, consider utilizing a tiny URL service.

2. Monitoring Your Brand

One of the often overlooked benefits about Twitter, is the opportunity for an organization to learn about their Brand. More and more, consumers are posting information about organizations online with Twitter – both bad and good experiences. An organization needs to channel information received from Twitter in an effort to evaluate opportunities that may exist to rebuild certain processes or strengthen areas that are exceeding consumer’s expectations.

3. Consider Alternatives

While Twitter has certainly taken the world by storm, with estimation on the total number of account of over 14 million, and 3 million tweets / day – don’t forget about what other social microblogging services that are out there in the blogosphere. You do not need to pay a SEO firm $5K to tell you that the number of inbound links that you company/organization has, the better! Microblogging services are an excellent way to build relationships with groups of people that are interested in your product/service, and drive traffic to your site.

Every sound business model starts with a perfected design. In this blog post, we will examine the four factors that are essential critical to success factors. These factors include:

 Technology

 Operations

 Processes

 People

While there are a number of other functions to consider, these have been deemed as the core components of any successful organization. Have you, as a small to mid-size business owner, considered the possibility that there may be an easier way to do things? Is there an opportunity that exists to eliminate mundane tasks and unnecessary payroll expenditures? If any of these questions have ever crossed you mind, you may want to consider what alternatives exist from a technological standpoint. Whether you are an internet based business, or traditional brick and mortar, there are many available options due to the overwhelming improvements made in technology in the past decade.

An effecient Operational Model and Logistics Planning is a necessity in today’s business environment. One must additionally consider COB (Continuity of Business) in case of a natural disaster. Having a business that can operate in a lean manner is vital in managing overall expenditures. Outsourcing, and Cyclical Staffing Models can prepare an organization to operate in such a manner.

In terms of processes, it is imperative that a business has the ability to rely on Metrics to analyze its performance. Tracking, evaluating, and making the right decisions when it comes to strategy planning can ensure a sound business model. Quality Assurance models developed to ensure adherence to regulatory and state law, and Risk Management models to define KRI (Key Risk Indicators) will afford Operations the ability to minimize both financial and reputational risk.

Staffing Competency Models can assist an organization with determining whether or not you have the right people, in the right place, at the right time. At the end of the day, it is the People within an organization, that define an organization. By performing the necessary evaluations, a company can ensure that it has the ability to deliver results.
